New Craft Beer Bar and American-Asian Eatery to Open at The Millennium Rainey Street Fall 2017

AUSTIN (May XX, 2017) – Austin-native Anthony Hitchcock, has always dreamed of opening a restaurant in his hometown. Now co-owner of Omaha-based Flagship Restaurant Group (FRG), Hitchcock has announced FRG’s latest concept, Anthem, opening fall 2017 in Austin, TX. The brainchild of Hitchcock, the new bar and eating house will fuse nostalgia-evoking American classics with Asian influences, offering quality pub food and craft beer. Opening within the Millennium Rainey Street development, Anthem will mark FRG’s first concept in Austin.
“It’s always been my dream to come back and open a restaurant in my hometown,” said Hitchcock, COO and owner of FRG. “Anthem gives a nod to the reminiscence of childhood and is about coming together to find that common thread in people again. It will be a place everyone is welcome, and everyone can feel at home.”
Anthem’s design will tell a visually-inspiring narrative that pays homage to Hitchcock’s Austin childhood home during the 80s and 90s. A playful color palate of soft pinks, greens and gold will create mod vintage vibe, while thoughtfully curated artwork and design details will add to the home-like aesthetic. The restaurant’s casual atmosphere will highlight natural elements and greenery built into the space and a charming patio with string lights will provide “a backyard” for guests.
Anthem will offer visitors and locals alike, a respite from the ordinary, making it a welcome addition to Austin’s dynamic Rainey Street.
“We are excited to welcome Anthem as our primary retail tenant at The Millennium Rainey Street,” said Brad Dinerstein, Managing Partner, Development and Construction. “We knew the laid-back atmosphere where you come to relax, enjoy excellent craft beer and quality pub food was the right choice for our residents and Rainey Street patrons in general. I’m confident this will be a successful partnership and well-received addition to the already desirable neighborhood.”
Anthem’s uniquely-crafted menu of eclectic American-Asian pub fare will offer guests something new and exciting, yet approachable. Austin diners can anticipate unexpected flavor combinations such as Smack Fries with crispy garlic, togarashi and parsley, served with sriracha ketchup and yuzu & parmesan peppercorn aioli; Charred Edamame, house smoked with sesame oil, yuzu kosho, cracked black pepper and sea salt; Karaage Chicken Sandwich on an onion potato bun with crunchy Asian slaw, spicy cherry pepper, cucumber sunomono relish and ponca mayo; Egg Roll Flatbread with Asian smoked pork, yakiniku sauce, Havarti cheese, shiitake mushrooms, carrot, cabbage, scallion and crispy wonton strips. The pub will also offer an array of vegan dishes, such as the Vdog, a vegan bulgogi hot dog with potato bun, Asian slaw, scallion, sesame seeds and vegan gochujang mayo.
“At Anthem, we’re pairing classic American pub cuisine with adventurous Asian influences,” said Tony Gentile, corporate executive chef of Flagship Restaurant Group. “We’re having a lot of fun developing this menu, and not taking ourselves too seriously. Anthem will provide an approachable refuge for all in search of good food, great beer and even better company.”
Focusing on the beverage program, Anthem will feature 40 craft draft handles and eight wines by the glass – all from an eco-friendly keg system. Beer drafts will highlight local and national brew styles, especially those with Asian accents, such as pale ale with lemongrass and green tea, or jasmine IPA. A casual menu of craft cocktails will bring an array of classics, new spins on old favorites, and fun tiki drinks. “I believe we can all truly rally around food, drink and friends becoming family,” said Hitchcock. “I’m looking forward to coming home again, and hope Austin enjoys our take on the good life.”
