Sneak Peek: Grand Opening for New Luxury Apartments in The Woodlands
04.18.2016 | News
The Dinerstein Cos. held a grand opening Feb. 25 for its latest luxury apartment in The Woodlands.
The Houston-based multifamily and student housing developer recently finished Millennium Six Pines, a five-story luxury apartment complex at the intersection of Woodlands Parkway and Six Pines Drive, a short walk to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and Market Street.
Millennium Six Pines features 314 one- to three-bedroom units, ranging in size from 671 square feet to 1,426 square feet and in monthly rent from $1,352 to $3,042. In-unit amenities include private patios and balconies, granite island counter tops and glass cabinets, gas ranges and under-the-cabinet lighting. Residents also have smart home technology options, including a built-in Apple TV and a smartphone application that allows them to control lighting, thermostat settings and an optional surround sound system.
Common-area amenities include a resort-style pool, courtyard with grills, clubhouse, dog park with dog washing stations, a fitness center, demonstration kitchen, rental bicycles and Internet lounge. The apartment complex is applying for LEED Gold status, boasting environmentally friendly EnergyStar appliances and windows, high-efficiency toilets, drought-tolerant landscaping, environmentally friendly paint, electric car-charging ports and energy-efficient air conditioning and heating system.
Millennium Six Pines is the second apartment project that The Dinerstein Cos. has completed in The Woodlands. Dallas-based The Howard Hughes Co. (NYSE: HHC) purchased the Millennium Waterway apartments from The Dinerstein Cos., and now manages the Landmark Award-winning property.
Dinerstein broke ground in January on a yet-to-be-named luxury apartment tower near the Texas Medical Center. The 22-story high-rise, dubbed The Millennium Tower on its website, will be at 1911 Holcombe Blvd., between MacGregor Way and Cambridge Street, just south of Hermann Park. The project will feature 375 apartment units on 16 floors over a six-story parking garage.
Dinerstein is building another midrise apartment project nearby. The Millennium Kirby, a five-story, 378-unit project, is under construction at 7600 Kirby Drive, near Main Street southwest of Hermann Park. It is expected to be completed later this year or early 2016.
Brad Dinerstein, executive vice president at The Dinerstein Cos., said his company is pushing ahead with its apartments projects — planning to build taller projects in the future — despite the plunging oil prices. Dinerstein said he is confident the projects’ proximity to the Texas Medical Center will help shield it from the effects of the oil slump.
“I believe the market will slow down a little bit, but we feel very strongly about Houston and the Medical Center,” Dinerstein said.
The Dinerstein Cos. is one of the largest apartment developers nationally, with more than 52,000 units in 28 states. The company’s student housing division — Sterling University Housing — is the largest developer of off-campus student housing in the country, having built over 35,000 beds across 63 properties.
